Radley of Ulley

A mortgage of £200 for 500 years made by Thomas Radley of Rotherham, hardwareman, to George Brooke of Stockwith, Notts, dated 14 September 1774, that Thomas Radley subsequently died, the mortgage was inherited by his widow Hannah Radley who sold it to Thomas Radley of Rotherham, joiner, by indenture dated 25 May 1776.

Also that by an assignment of mortgage with further borrowing, dated 8 October 1777 the mortgage was transferred from Thomas Radley, joiner to Thomas Briggs of West Melton, corn factor, who lent to George Brooke, a further £100. The land agreed for sale to John Foljambe of Rotherham, being part of that secured in the mortgage, it had been agreed to discharge the mortgage on it for the sum of £100.

A close of 7 acres 3 roods 33 poles at Bramley, in the Parish of Braithwell, Yorks, formerly a parcel of Bramley Commons, adjoining northward the turnpike road from Wickersley to Maltby, on the eastward side the road from Bramley to Sandy Lane and on the eastward (i.e. westward) side lands belonging to Mr. Edward Mason. The close was formerly in the tenure of William Brooke, later of John Hollinworth. John Foljambe paid Thomas Briggs £100 and to George Brooke 10s Rev. William Harrison of Rotherham paid Thomas Briggs 10s.

The will of Thomas Radley of Rotherham, joiner, dated 27 May 1757, was proved at York 21 May 1776 by Hannah Radley his relation and sole executor. Source:
