Purslove

 

Alice Westby of Howarth, c.1695 daughter of James Westby (1668-1695) of Whiston and Martha, married October 5th 1713 at Todwick to Thomas Pursglove a draper from Barnsley.

 

There was a Mathew Purslove at Braithwell Grange, his daughter Ruth m. Richard Fretwell. Ruth d. 30 Jan. 1761, aged 69, bur. at Maltby; sister of Ralph who married a Tofield. (MS 542)

From about 1686 Lambcote Grange was owned by Matthew Purslove

Children of Matthew Purslove:

It is thought that Joseph (c.1724) was a curate at Silkstone from 1748-1779, who had a daughter Mary Mirfin Purslove who married William Wasteneys.

Will of Joseph Purslove

Copy will of Joseph Purslove, of Silkstone, Yorks, clerk. 20 Apr 1778
He bequeaths an annuity of £5 to be raised out of his messuages and lands in Bentley, Yorks, to his sister Mary Purslove. He also bequeaths an annuity of £5 to a friend, Eliz Glover, widow of Thomas Glover, of Fallhead, tanner. Finally he bequeaths all his messuages and lands in Bentley which are charged with these rent charges, to his daughter Mary Mirfin Wasteneys, wife of William Wasteneys of Edlington, Yorks, gent.
Will was proved at York, 20th September, 1779.
