Plant Family
Thomas Plant, a Blacksmith was born about 1834 at Newbould, Derbyshire, he married Esther Ann Street(b.April 7th 1841) on 22/8/1859 at St Albans church, Wickersley. Their witnesses were George Varah and Mary Elizabeth Bell (Esther's cousin) Thomas was aged 25 and described as Full Age.
Esther Ann was the daughter of William and Ann Street.
Their children, were all born at Wickersley:
- Edith Annie Plant, born June 16th 1861, dressmaker, married Willie Tom Robinson. In 1891 living 97 St Anns Road ,Rotherham. Thomas William and Gertrude Lillian living With them
- Anne Elizabeth Plant, born August 23rd 1863, died 23rd Dec.1864 Aged one year three months from contusions on the brain
- Louisa Beatrice Plant, born July 27th 1866
- Thomas William Plant, born April 14th 1869. Married Isabel(b.1869)
- John Joseph Plant, born December 23rd 1872. Married Annie Elizabeth Booth(b.1873)
- Alice Myra Plant, born September 24th 1875, died from a blow to the head
- Gertrude Lillian Plant, born Aug 23rd 1878. Married Frederick Booth
In White's Directory of 1879, Thomas was listed as a Blacksmith, Green Grocer and Carrier to Doncaster, Saturdays only.He must have died soon after his information was collected for publication..
Thomas Snr died on 9th November, 1878 aged 44, he is buried in St Albans along with his children:
- Alice Myra, died 3/5/1882, aged 6
- Louisa Beatrice, died 19/2/1885, aged 18

Edith Annie, the eldest daughter, a dressmaker, married Willie Tom Robinson. In 1891 they were living at 97 St Anns Road, Rotherham. Thomas William and Gertrude Lillian were living With them.

In 1881 Esther's mother, Ann Street(b.1880), aged 81 and widowed was living with the family.

By 1901, Esther Ann had remarried to George Kennen, a blacksmith from Renishaw, Derbyshire. They were living at Wickersley with Gertrude Lilian who was now married to Frederick Booth (b1878) of Catcliffe, they had a daughter, Edith, born 1900 at Wickersley
