Thomas Plant, a Blacksmith was born about 1834 at Newbould, Derbyshire, he married Esther Ann Street(b.April 7th 1841) on 22/8/1859 at St Albans church, Wickersley. Their witnesses were George Varah and Mary Elizabeth Bell (Esther's cousin) Thomas was aged 25 and described as Full Age.
Esther Ann was the daughter of William and Ann Street.

Thomas Snr died on 9th November, 1878 aged 44, he is buried in St Albans along with his children:
Edith Annie, the eldest daughter, a dressmaker, married Willie Tom Robinson. In 1891 they were living at 97 St Anns Road, Rotherham. Thomas William and Gertrude Lillian were living With them.

By 1901, Esther Ann had remarried to George Kennen, a blacksmith from Renishaw, Derbyshire. They were living at Wickersley with Gertrude Lilian who was now married to Frederick Booth (b1878) of Catcliffe, they had a daughter, Edith, born 1900 at Wickersley
