THE RED CROSS AGRICULTURAL FUND
Not the least of the many well organised efforts of the village was that for the above fund, usually known as the Rural Pennies Fund. Under the encouraging National Chairmanship of the Duchess of Marlborough several hundred pounds were collected in Wickersley by a willing band of workers.

With Miss M. Ross as the very able Organiser Secretary no less than ten collectors were working continuously throughout the war years, each responsible for her own particular street or area. A personal letter has been received by each collector from the Duchess expressing her deep appreciation and thanks for their work, and great credit is due to them for the splendid success attained.

Wickersley farmers, their wives and friends have supported this fund throughout the War, and well over a thousand pounds has been obtained.

The last effort, Wickersley Agriculural Show, in 1945, resulted in £728 being handed to the Fund.
