Foreword
To the People of Wickersley
As chairman of the Parish Council for 1945, I am very happy to add a Foreword to this programme, the first thought that occurs to me is the great joy that we experienced at the victorious end of the War against Germany and Japan and the hope of the return home of the members of H.M. Forces, on behalf of the Parish Council and the peoples of Wickersley, I take this opportunity of expressing our gratitude to all who joined the Forces, the Home Guard, Royal Observer Corps. all branches of the Civil Defence, Comfort Fund Committee, W.V.S. Knitting and Sewing Parties and all who helped in the War Savings Campaigns, for the magnificent work they did during the years of War. I hope the day will be fine, and the peoples of Wickersley will come and help to give the children a happy day.
Yours sincerely,
S. ALLEN.
THE KNOLL,
